FAQs

  • Visit ‘The Bowler Hat’ page after we have announced that it is open. Click on the image of the Ghost. This will take you to an entry form page where you can submit your details.

    Our system uses SMS verification in order to validate your details. We will send a 6-digit code to your mobile/cell and you must copy this into the entry form in order to submit your entry. You will receive an email confirming your submission.

    Our policy remains at ONE ghost per customer therefore you will not be able to submit an email address or phone number more than once. We will remove multiple submissions ahead of a draw.

  • You will need a valid mobile phone number (you cannot use a landline number)- in order to validate your entry; this number can only be used once. You will also need an email address which will be used for all notifications including the results of the draw; and it is essential that it is correct- we cannot change this after entry. The address you use on the entry form will be the shipping address we use should you win. We will not store this information, and you will need to submit new entries for every release should you wish to. We will remove multiple submissions before a draw, please only submit one entry.

  • We will check entries after the submission period is closed and then names will be drawn on the same day. You will receive an email after names have been drawn from The Bowler Hat which will tell you whether you have won or not. This email may not arrive immediately after the draw, as the emails are staggered but will arrive on the day of the draw- please check your spam folder if you are unable to see the email and add bowlerhat@yorkghostmerchants.co.uk to your safe senders list.

  • If your name is drawn from The Bowler Hat, you will receive an email with a single use payment link. If you click this link, it will take you straight to a secure/encrypted checkout page and your purchase can be made at your own pace within the time limit (you will have 48 hours after the email has been sent to complete your purchase). Your Ghost is reserved until you have paid and you can do so anytime within the time limit. Your order will then be processed by us in exactly the same way as before. The link will remain active until you have paid (or when the 48-hour limit has passed) and then it will not work again. The link can be shared but only used once and the address from the original entry will be used for shipping- this cannot be changed. Our policy remains at one Ghost per customer due to the restrictions of our manufacturing processes. Should you fail to complete your purchase within the 48-hour window your purchase opportunity will be forfeited.

    We advise against sharing this link publicly if you do so it will jeopardise your ability to use the link yourself.

  • The link can be opened more than once but will only work until a purchase has been completed, at which time it can no longer be used. The link is valid for a set time (48hrs from the winning email being sent) and this will be specified in the winning email, failure to purchase during this time will forfeit your chance to buy a Ghost.

  • You will have much more time using this system than before. When we announce the release this information will be included; for large releases this will be 24 hours for submission and then 48 hours for payment. For Clandestine releases (where we decide to use ‘The Bowler Hat’ and which are unannounced), the submission period may be as short as 10 minutes. Please take your time to ensure email addresses are correct as this is how we will contact you to advise if you have been successful. You will not be able to submit an entry without a valid mobile number.

  • Unfortunately we cannot honour any expired links, and you will not be able to purchase a Ghost this time.

  • Please add bowlerhat@yorkghostmerchants.co.uk to your safe senders list if possible.

    Please also check the following:

    • Spam and Junk Folders

    • That your mailbox isn’t full

    • That your email address was submitted correctly

    • Please be aware that emails regarding the draw results are staggered and it can take some time for them all to send. Please be patient – all emails will be sent on the same day the draw is made.

  • In the event that we have a number of Ghosts which are not purchased within the time limit, we will hold another draw for the same Ghost, comprised of the names entered who did NOT win. We cannot enter new names into the second draw or those who forfeited their payment link in the first draw. Second draws will be made once the payment links have expired, and you will receive emails notifications in the same manner as you did in the first draw.

  • Our system has been designed to ensure fairness. We have implemented a series of restrictions preventing multiple entries to the Bowler Hat. You will only be able to submit an email address and mobile phone number once. The system will however accept four entries from the same address/household. Any entries exceeding this criteria will result in an error page. If you believe you are submitting an entry which complies and you are still seeing an error page, please contact us at mrshumphreys@yorkghostmerchants.com. If you try to purchase your Ghost with an expired link you may also see an error or ‘not found’ page.

  • We hope to use this new system for all larger and Black Box online releases, and may use this for Clandestine releases should this system prove helpful and popular. This may replace Queue Fair but our primary aim is to make the buying process easier and fairer for our customers and we will endeavour to use the platform which fulfils that the most effectively.

  • Any destination currently included within our shipping options will be able to enter the draw with delivery unaffected by the new system. Please choose the correct country code for SMS verification and the right shipping destination at entry. The address you enter with will be your shipping address at purchase should you win.
